What happens when you are bored

tn_DSC01224.JPG
OK, it was Thursday night and we had nothing to do when we were watching some hardcore wrestling on tv. Well one thing led to another and we started hitting each other with some pieces of bamboo to see if it nwould hurt. Above is Sherry right before she got whacked with the stick.

tn_DSC01226.JPG
And here is her after getting whacked. My God, I swear I was crying from laughing so hard.

tn_DSC01228.JPG
Here is another of her getting hit across the stomach. It actually didn't hurt as much as you would think. It just stung for a few seconds.

Mexican Food

tn_DSC01221.JPG
Well I didn't have anything to eat all day, so when the wife got home we went out for dinner. We have a favorite Mexican restaurant that we eat at all the time caqlled El Camino, so we decided to eat there.

tn_DSC01222.JPG
The food was great as usual. They always feed us too much though so we had to get the rest in a doggie bag.

tn_DSC01223.JPG
Sherry had her enchilada and burrito and I had my usual Fajitas.

When we got home we were sitting in bed and I happened to notice that my toenail was really loose. It had been getting black ever since I ran in the marathon a month ago. I have been waiting for it to come off and it finally did tonight. It was wierd. Underneath it was still hard like there was a still a nail there, but it wasn't. Here's a picture of my lovely toe

Bowling Night

Well, we had plans for a month now to attend Thunder over Louisville all month. It's the world largest fireworks display that they have every year at the riverfront park. Well the wether was horrible today and cold and rainy, so we cancelled our plans. We couldn't think of anything nto do, so we went to the gym. I am almost at my goal of makinjg 65 milews this week running. I only have a mile and a half to go. Well, after the gym we came home and changed to go out for dinner. We went out to eat at Golden Corral in Elizabethtown and had a nice dinner. After that we decided to go bowling.

tn_DSC01110.JPG
Sherry always beats me in bowling. She is pretty good.

tn_DSC01113.JPG
She beat me bad again tonight. Oh well, better luck next time.

tn_DSC01123.JPG
Even though I didn't win any of the games, I still had a fun night. After bowling we headed home and decided to rent the first 3 Star Wars movies. Should be fun.

2:00 A.M. Thursday Morning

I can't sleep at all. I guess I am still on Korean time. The last few nights I have been going for runs early in the morning. Here is a pic of me heading out the door:
tn_DSC01097.JPG
I am starting to like these early hours of the morning runs. They are the only runs I go on without headphones. It's so quiet and nobody else is awake. There's something kind of neat knowing that you are the only person awake and outside at that time of day. I have the whole road to myself and can do some thinking. I only planned on running 2 miles tonight, but I was feeling pretty good still, so I kept going a little bit longer. I always do that. Well, 2 miles turned into 3 real quick. Then 4 miles.
tn_DSC01104.JPG
Here is me on mile 3 heading back home.

I ran 4 1/4 miles tonight. That makes a total of 12 miles for today. I'm still feeling pretty good. I think I'm going to shoot for a new personal record with this week. My previous record is 57 miles in a week. I'm going for 65 this time. Monday is going to hurt me though. I only did 4 miles, so I'm goiung to have to make up for it this week. Also Saturday is Thunder over Louisville, so I might not get to run that day. That only leaves me 3 more running days this week to get 33 more miles. It's going to be tough, but I'm pretty determined. As long as my legs don't cramp on me or get too sore, I think I'll make it. We'll see how it turns out.

tn_DSC01082.JPG
We'll, I just got back from the gym and my legs are pretty sore from running. I did pretty good today. It's not the funnest thing to do while on vacation, but Sherry is still at work, so I had to find something to do until she got home.

tn_DSC01083.JPG
I'm trying to make up some miles this week. Last week I slacked off and didn't meet my goal for the week, so I'm trying to push myself harder this week and make up the miles. I ran 10.5 miles today and did a bunch of sit-ups and crunches. I also ran up 100 floors of stairs to try and make myself a little faster. I'll be sfeeling pain tomorrow though.

tn_DSC01085.JPG
I was really bored this morning at about 1 A.M., so I decided to do a little redecorating. I moved some furniture around and changed a few things and threw some things out.

tn_DSC01086.JPG
Here's another view of the dining area. There is definetely a lot more space now and we have a lot more room in the house.

Wrestling Show

Well, Sherry and I just got back from a wrestling show in Elizabethtown tonight. It was fun. Sherry has started video taping all of the shows for the owner. It’s a small independent wrestling show called BBW (Bad to the Bone Wrestling). Sherry loves going to the shows. We got there early and got to talk with the wrestlers. Some of them are very interesting people. They don’t do it for the money, that’s for sure. They all do it because they enjoy it. A few of the wrestlers said that some nights it costs them more in gas money to get to the show than they make in a night. Some nights they don’t make anything.
After the show, I helped the wrestlers and Sherry tear down the ring and clean up. There were 100 fans that came to the show that night, which isn’t much according the the owner, Joe Bailey. His son wrestles and is becoming quite popular. He was recently features on a video game called backyard wrestling. After the show the owner, Joe, offered to help train Sherry to be a valet in some of the shows if she wanted. Sherry was so happy. A valet is the girl who is sort of the “eye candy” that escorts the wrestlers to the ring and hypes up the audience.
We’re going to another one of their shows at the end of the month in Bardstown. It should be fun. I’ll post more pictures for you. We’ll that’s all for now. Good night!

The two most popular guys. The one sitting on the ropes is J.C. Bailey. He's the one who is in the video game.

Well I’m on a plane now somewhere over the Arizona/ New Mexico border. I just left California, where I have been visiting family since Friday. It was nice to get to see everyone again. I really had a lot of fun and was so happy to just be able to spend time with them again. I always hate leaving. I miss so much of everyone’s life when I’m away from California, and that really bothers me. It was sad to see my Nephews, especially Gabe, because they have grown so much and I wasn’t there to see it. I hope that when I get out of the military and Sherry and I move, that it is somewhere within driving distance of them. I would love to be able to see them on weekends, or be able to have them come and visit me for a change.
Today I spent the majority of the day at my dads house visiting with him and John and Alicia. John brought Kaleb with him, and he made us all laugh with his antics. Afterwards Alicia and I went back to my moms house and relaxed for a little while. On my way home from dad’s I thought that I’d repay my mom for driving all the way to the airport and picking me up by filling her car up. Well, I started pumping gas and got $30 in it and noticed that the gas was $2.70 a gallon! I have no idea how many gallons of gas my mom’s truck will hold but I know that $30 only gave her slightly more that ¼ tank. Makes me glad glad that I decided to take up running as a hobbie even more.
In 3 hours I’ll be home in Kentucky. Sherry is picking me up at the airport. I can’t wait to see her and see what she looks like. She emails me just about every day and is always telling me about her trips to aerobics class, tanning salon, or how she has dyed her hair. I hope can recognize my “new” wife. It will be great to sleep in a big bed again and have someone to hang out with all the time and talk to. I miss doing that a lot with Sherry. Of course I miss a lot more than just that, but I miss that the most. I’ll also be excited to see my old friends again, particularly Mark and Heather Graber and Tammie Beasley. It’ll be good to see some old faces.

April 7, 2005

Hello everybody. Well the day has actually come for me to finally get out of this place. I woke up this morning at 4:30 AM to get ready so that I could make it to the bus station by 6:00. From there I had to catch a bus to Osan (an hours drive away). In Osan they have an Air Force base that has a great deal for military members. They have flights that leave every Thursday to Seattle for $26. I got a flight that was scheduled for 11:20 AM. Well, I knew it would be a long wait so I went and bought a few magazines to pass the time. It turns out that 11:20 soon turned to 1 PM, then 2, and finally we started to leave the airport at 3:30 PM. Well what can you expect from the Air Force! Haha. Anyways, we have been flying for about 4 hours now. Only 5 more to go! Yipee. I guess I can’t complain though. I’m just happy that I’ll get to see everyone again and be back home with my wife for a month. I really needed it too. It’s about time I took some time off from work. Well, I promise to post a bunch of pictures for everyone, once I land so that all of you can see what I’m up to. Until then, Toodle Loo!

April 5, 2005

Oh man, this work day can't go by fast enough. Today is my last day before I go on vacation for a month. I'm getting everything ready tomorrow and makinjg sure I have everything packed. On Thursday morning I'm cacthing a bus near my apartment to the Osan Airpost in Southern Korea. It's a Air Force base that allows Army guys like me to fly to the states for $25. The only thing I'm NOT looking forward to is the 14 hour flight from Korea to Seattle, Washington. They play about 5 or 6 movies during the flight though, and I have my MP3 player and laptop to keep me entertained. From Seattle, I'm catching a flight to San Diego. I'm going to spend a few days with my family and friends before heading to Louisville, Kentucky where my wife is at. I'm so excited to see everyone again. I'm also excited to just be back in the states. You woudnt believe how much you miss people who speak english, or be able to see american television, or eat real Amercan food, or even see a commercial in English! I'm going to have a great time I'm sure.

I'm taking a full month off of work. I got a message from one of the soldiers I work with that I had to take at least 30 days of vacation this year or the Army was going to take the days from me and I wouldn't get to use them. I told them I'd have no problem going on vacation for a month. That is one problem that I can live with. I'll be sure to take tons of pictures and post them here for everyone. I might have to make a new category just for the vacation even. Well, I guess I should get some work done today. I have to tie up a few things before I go on vacation and make sure that I have everything set for Jung before i leave. He's going to have to take care of the office while I'm gone. I'm sure he won't mind having the apartment all to himself though. alk to you all later. Toodle Loo.

Pope Died Today

tn_DSC00809.JPG
The Chapel was full for Catholic Mass today.

tn_DSC00813.JPG
A picture I took at work today. A lot of people were in attendance because of the death of the Pope.

tn_DSC00815.JPG
There were even some people crying at the service. It was a very big event for the Catholics.

tn_DSC00818.JPG
It's 7:06 AM right now I think. I can't tell because today is daylight savings time, but I'm not sure if Korea changes their clocks ahead or not. Nobody is here yet though, so I guess it's still 7. This is my last weekend working at the church before I go on vacation. Only 2 more days of work after this before I catch a plane back to the states. I'm really looking forward to it. It will be nice to see my family again. I miss not being able to see them whenever I want. Sometimes I'm a bit envious of my brother. It's so easy fro him to visit his grandparents, parents, cousins, and family whenever he wants. I think I miss that more than anything. Family is such a big thing in my life, and I miss not having that. It will be very nice to see everyone again and say hello. It will also be nice to be able to wear shorts again and T-shirts. I bought a new pair of shorts and some pants yesterday when I went shopping with Scott and Boyd in Osan. Hightower called me there too, but I couldn't find him. I've been having to buy new clothes because all of the ones I have now don't fit me. That's the first time I've ever had to do that in my life. In the last 60 months I've lost 34 pounds. I'm now down to 169. My goal was 165, so I'm pretty close. I had a cheat night last night, so I'm probably back up to 170 now. That's OK though, I'll work off all that pizza at the gym once I get off work.

I read on the internet this morning that Pope John Paul II died today. I'm sure that there will be a lot of Catholics attending this morning's mass. Well, they are needing my help with the Protestant service right now, so I guess I better go do my job. Talk to everyone later. Toodle Loo
