Well I’m on a plane now somewhere over the Arizona/ New Mexico border. I just left California, where I have been visiting family since Friday. It was nice to get to see everyone again. I really had a lot of fun and was so happy to just be able to spend time with them again. I always hate leaving. I miss so much of everyone’s life when I’m away from California, and that really bothers me. It was sad to see my Nephews, especially Gabe, because they have grown so much and I wasn’t there to see it. I hope that when I get out of the military and Sherry and I move, that it is somewhere within driving distance of them. I would love to be able to see them on weekends, or be able to have them come and visit me for a change.
Today I spent the majority of the day at my dads house visiting with him and John and Alicia. John brought Kaleb with him, and he made us all laugh with his antics. Afterwards Alicia and I went back to my moms house and relaxed for a little while. On my way home from dad’s I thought that I’d repay my mom for driving all the way to the airport and picking me up by filling her car up. Well, I started pumping gas and got $30 in it and noticed that the gas was $2.70 a gallon! I have no idea how many gallons of gas my mom’s truck will hold but I know that $30 only gave her slightly more that ¼ tank. Makes me glad glad that I decided to take up running as a hobbie even more.
In 3 hours I’ll be home in Kentucky. Sherry is picking me up at the airport. I can’t wait to see her and see what she looks like. She emails me just about every day and is always telling me about her trips to aerobics class, tanning salon, or how she has dyed her hair. I hope can recognize my “new” wife. It will be great to sleep in a big bed again and have someone to hang out with all the time and talk to. I miss doing that a lot with Sherry. Of course I miss a lot more than just that, but I miss that the most. I’ll also be excited to see my old friends again, particularly Mark and Heather Graber and Tammie Beasley. It’ll be good to see some old faces.
